What it is and where it fits
The Siemens 6SL3562-6DF71-0RA1 is a SINAMICS S120M distributed servo drive rated at 5 Nm continuous torque at 3000 RPM nominal speed, fed from a DC 600 V bus. It carries an absolute encoder with 20-bit resolution and natural air cooling, enclosed to IP65. That IP65 rating means the drive body withstands washdown and dust ingress — it mounts directly on the motor or near the axis in a food, packaging, or machining cell without a separate cabinet.
Torque, speed, and encoder — what they mean for the line
The 5 Nm rating is the continuous stall torque; the 3000 RPM nominal speed gives you the mechanical power curve for sizing the axis. The 20-bit absolute encoder eliminates the need for a homing cycle after power loss — the drive knows the shaft position on restart. That saves seconds per cycle on multi-axis lines where every restart costs throughput. The DC 600 V input ties into a common DC bus, typical of SINAMICS S120M multi-axis systems. No AC supply at the drive — the bus is fed from a line module elsewhere in the cabinet. This keeps the distributed drive compact and reduces cabling.
Mounting and mechanical interface
The drive supports IM B5 (flange-mounted), IM V1, and IM V3 orientations, giving flexibility for vertical or horizontal axis mounting. The shaft comes with a fitted key, tolerance N. No holding brake is fitted on this variant — if the axis needs a holding brake for vertical loads, order the braked version.
