Field note – TB511 on the AC500 V2 backplane
The ABB 1SAP111100R0260 TB511 is a communications slice for the AC500 V2 rack, filling one slot with an ARCNET interface and two hardware serial ports configured as RS232 or RS485. It draws 24 V DC from the backplane and is rated IP20 for use inside a clean enclosure. Operating ambient is 0 to +60 °C, so keep it away from the door-side of a hot panel or above a row of high-wattage power supplies.
Integration – slot assignment and wiring
Mounts in any free slot of the AC500 V2 base unit or expansion backplane. The ARCNET connection uses a coaxial D-SUB pinout; the two serial ports are accessed via terminals (RS232 or RS485, per wiring scheme). Supply rail is 24 V DC from the backplane, no external power needed. Duct routing for the serial cables should avoid high-frequency inverter lines to keep the ARCNET bus jitter within spec.
