Integration Use
The module fits into ABB's distributed automation PLC system (product name Distributed Automation PLCs). No industrial Ethernet ports are present (0 hardware interfaces for that), so all communication runs over the two serial ports. The 187.5 kbit/s rate aligns with PROFIBUS DP speed, but the selectable protocol means it can also serve as a point-to-point RS232 link for programming or HMI connections. Configuration of the interface type is done at setup — the module does not auto-sense, so verify the protocol selection matches your field wiring before commissioning.
