PROFINET gateway with serial and CANopen bridging
The ABB 1SAP421500R0001 (CI506-PNIO-XC) is a PROFINET IO RT gateway module that bridges a real-time PROFINET network to two independent serial lines (RS232, RS422, or RS485) and one CANopen master bus. It carries a single transistor output rated for 0.5 A and sinks 5 mA from the 24 V DC supply (20.4...28.8 V range). There are no onboard digital I/O points — this is a pure protocol-conversion slice. The two Industrial Ethernet ports allow line topology, and the serial interfaces can operate simultaneously alongside the CANopen master. Delay time is adjustable from 0.1 to 32 ms.
