Soft starter for 22 kW motor loads
The ABB PST44 1SFA894004R7020 is a soft starter rated 44 A in-line connection and 76 A inside-delta, delivering 22 kW at 400 V (in-line) or 37 kW at 400 V (inside-delta). The 0–120 second ramp time lets you tune the acceleration profile to the load — conveyors, pumps, compressors — so the motor doesn't slam the drivetrain on start. Built-in electronic overload protection (1.5–7× Ie current limit function) eliminates the need for a separate overload relay, saving a DIN-rail slot and reducing wiring in the panel. The 115 % service factor gives headroom for occasional overloads without nuisance tripping.
Control and feedback
Control supply accepts 100–250 V AC; the control circuit also supports 24 V DC operation. Four signal relays — run, fault, bypass, overload — give the PLC or DCS discrete feedback for each state. The 0–10 V analog output can feed a speed or current signal to a panel meter or drive controller. Communication is via the standard FiledBusPlug interface — add a fieldbus adapter (PROFIBUS, DeviceNet, Modbus RTU) to the plug-in slot for network control. Screw terminals on the control circuit (1 × 2.5 mm² rigid) and main circuit (1 × 10–95 mm² rigid) keep wiring straightforward for panel builders.
IP10 on the main terminals (per IEC 60529, IEC 60947-1, EN 60529) means finger-safe only — the unit needs to live inside an enclosure rated for the installation environment. Operating ambient 0–50 °C, 50/60 Hz line frequency. Tighten control circuit terminals to 0.5 N·m.
