The ABB PST142 softstarter (1SFA894010R7020) is rated for 142 A in-line connection (Ie) and 245 A inside-delta connection, delivering 75 kW at 400 V in-line or 132 kW at 400 V inside-delta. The built-in electronic overload protection eliminates the need for a separate overload relay, saving panel space and wiring. The adjustable ramp time spans 0 to 120 seconds, with initial voltage during start settable from 30 to 70 % and a step-down special ramp from 100 to 30 %, giving you fine control over motor acceleration and deceleration for pumps, fans, or conveyors.
Control and communication
Control supply voltage is 100...250 V AC; the control circuit also accepts 24 V DC operation. Communication is via a standard FieldBusPlug, so you can integrate it into a fieldbus network without extra hardware. Signal relays are provided for run, fault, by-pass, and overload — each one gives a dry contact back to the PLC for status and diagnostics. Analog output is 0...10 V, useful for feeding a local meter or a drive controller.
Main circuit terminals are bars with an 8.5 mm hole — expect to use ring lugs or busbar connections. Control circuit terminals accept rigid 1 x 2.5 mm² wire with a tightening torque of 0.5 N·m. The supply circuit also takes rigid 1 x 2.5 mm². IP00 on the main terminals means it's intended for enclosure mounting inside a panel, not for open-air installation.
