The ABB PST250 softstarter 1SFA894013R7020 is rated for 250 A in-line connection and 132 kW at 400 V — that is the motor current it handles in a standard three-phase configuration, sized for a 132 kW induction motor on a 400 V line. The inside-delta connection bumps the rating to 430 A and 220 kW at 400 V, which is the figure to use when the starter is wired inside the motor delta loop rather than in the supply line.
Built-in overload and ramp control
Electronic overload protection is integrated — no separate overload relay needed in the panel. The current limit function adjusts from 1.5 to 7 times the set motor current, and the ramp time is settable from 0 to 120 seconds, which covers soft starting for most conveyor, pump, and fan loads. Initial voltage during start is adjustable 30–70 %, and the step-down voltage special ramp runs 100–30 % for stopping. The starter also carries run, fault, bypass, and overload signal relays, plus a 0–10 V analog output for external monitoring.
Control supply and wiring
Control supply voltage is 100–250 V AC; the control circuit also accepts 24 V DC for the logic side. Main circuit terminals are bars with a 10.2 mm hole — expect lug-type connections. Control circuit terminals accept 1 x 2.5 mm² rigid wire, tightened to 0.5 N·m. Communication is via a standard FieldBusPlug, so the starter integrates into a fieldbus network with the appropriate plug-in module. Ambient operating temperature is 0 to +50 °C; main terminals are IP00 per IEC 60529 and IEC 60947-1, meaning the starter is intended for enclosure mounting — not open-panel washdown.
