PST85 Softstarter — 85 A In-Line, 75 kW Inside-Delta
The ABB PST85 softstarter (1SFA895008R7000) is rated 85 A in-line connection and 147 A inside-delta, delivering 45 kW in-line or 75 kW at 400 V when wired inside-delta. The main circuit accepts 400-690 V AC, and the control supply runs on 100-250 V AC. Built-in electronic overload protection eliminates the need for a separate overload relay — the current limit function adjusts from 1.5 to 7x Ie, and the ramp time is configurable from 0 to 120 seconds. The initial voltage during start can be set between 30 and 70%. Communication is via the standard FieldBusPlug, and the unit includes run, fault, by-pass, and overload signal relays. The control circuit uses 24 V DC operation, and the tightening torque for control terminals is 0.5 N·m.
Integration Notes
Main circuit terminals are bars with an 8.5 mm hole diameter; the control circuit accepts rigid 1 x 2.5 mm² wire. The supply circuit connects with rigid 1 x 2.5 mm² as well. Ambient operating temperature range is 0 to +50 °C, and the degree of protection for main terminals is IP00 per IEC 60529 and IEC 60947-1. The unit includes a switch for inside-delta connection, which is how you get the higher 147 A / 75 kW rating. Starting capacity is 3x Ie for 15 seconds. Service factor is 115%.
