The ABB 1SFA896204R7000 is a PSRC6-600-70 soft starter that applies a voltage ramp to limit inrush current during motor start. The fixed ramp time means the acceleration profile is preset — not adjustable in the field — so it suits applications where the load characteristic is consistent and the starting torque requirement is known at commissioning. The initial voltage during start is also a fixed setting, which sets the breakaway torque applied to the load before the ramp begins. For a given motor and load pair, these fixed parameters either work or they don't; there is no field tuning. Rated operational voltage spans 208 to 600 V AC, three-phase, at 50/60 Hz. The control supply is 100-240 V AC, and a separate 24 V DC control circuit is available for the logic interface — useful when integrating into a 24 V DC control panel architecture. The control circuit terminals tighten to 1 N·m (8.9 in·lb per the UL/CSA listing). Starting capacity is 4x Ie for 6 seconds.
The PSRC6 mounts in a standard control panel. Main terminals are rated IP20 per IEC 60529 and IEC 60947-1, so the unit is touch-safe when installed inside a closed enclosure. Screw terminals on the main circuit accept rigid conductors from 2 x 0.75 to 1.5 mm²; the supply circuit accepts 1 x 0.75 to 2.5 mm² rigid. An optional FiledBusPlug communication module can be added for network integration, but the base unit has no onboard fieldbus. A green LED indicates running, ramping up/down, and completed start ramp — three distinct states visible through the enclosure window. A run signal relay is included (fault and by-pass signal relays are not). The unit does not have an integrated electronic overload; ABB recommends an external MS116 manual motor starter sized 4.00 to 10.00 A for overload protection. This is a common pairing in ABB's motor-starting ecosystem.
