Soft start with voltage ramp, fixed ramp time
The ABB 1SFA896207R7000 is a PSRC16 soft starter that applies a voltage ramp to limit inrush during motor start. Ramp time is a fixed setting — no field adjustment — so the part is sized for a specific load profile and swapped rather than tuned. Starting capacity is 4xIe for 6 seconds, which covers standard induction-motor acceleration on pumps, fans, and small conveyors without a bypass contactor. Control supply is 100-240 V AC; the control circuit can also take 24 V DC for PLC-driven panels.
Terminals, protection, and integration
Main circuit terminals accept rigid 0.75 to 2.5 mm² wire; control-circuit torque is 1 N·m. Screw terminals throughout — no spring-cage option on this variant. The enclosure is IP20 at the main terminals per IEC 60529 and IEC 60947-1, so it mounts inside a panel with a door or cover; not for standalone washdown duty. Overload protection is recommended via an external MS132 manual motor starter in the 10.00 to 16.00 A range — the PSRC16 does not integrate electronic overload. A run signal relay is present; fault, bypass, and overload signal relays are not. Communication is optional through a FiledBusPlug accessory.
