The ABB 1SFA896212R7000 is a PSRC60 soft starter with a voltage-ramp starting method — it applies a controlled voltage buildup to the motor terminals during start, limiting inrush current and mechanical shock to the driven load. The control supply accepts 100–240 V AC, and a separate 24 V DC control circuit handles the logic and signal relays. This is a fixed-setting ramp — no field adjustment of ramp time or initial voltage. It ships with a run signal relay and a bypass signal relay; there is no fault signal relay or overload signal relay on board. Overload protection is handled externally via a recommended MS495 45–63 thermal overload relay.
Where it goes and what it connects to
Main circuit connections use bars; the connecting capacity is rigid 2 x 0.75–1.5 mm². The supply circuit takes the same wire size. Control circuit terminals require 0.6 N·m tightening torque (5.3 in·lb per UL/CSA). Degree of protection on the main terminals is IP10 per IEC 60529 and IEC 60947-1 — meaning finger-safe against accidental contact but not sealed against moisture or dust. The soft starter supports an optional FieldBusPlug for communication, but no onboard network interface is fitted as standard. Starting capacity is 4x rated current Ie for 6 seconds — enough for standard squirrel-cage induction motor starts on pumps, fans, and light conveyors. The UL/CSA horsepower rating is 20 Hp on three-phase 200–208 V AC.
