The ABB 1SFA896214R7000 is a PSRC85 soft starter with a voltage-ramp start profile, sized for three-phase induction motors across a 208-600 V AC supply. It delivers 4x rated motor current for 6 seconds during start, with a fixed ramp time and fixed initial voltage — no field-adjustable parameters, so the application must match the factory setting. The 25 Hp rating at 200-208 V AC (UL/CSA) gives a quick fit check for North American 208 V distribution panels. Control power is dual-range: 100-240 V AC for the coil, and a separate 24 V DC control circuit for logic inputs.
The 4x Ie for 6 seconds starting capacity is the key motor-match number: it means the soft starter can handle a motor with a locked-rotor current up to four times its rated full-load current, as long as the start completes within six seconds. If your motor has a higher inrush or a longer acceleration time (high-inertia loads like fans or conveyors), this unit will trip on the start profile. The fixed ramp and fixed initial voltage mean you cannot soften the start further — the part is designed for standard, repeatable starts where the load doesn't change. The main terminals carry an IP10 rating per IEC 60529 — finger-safe against solid objects but not sealed against moisture, so the unit must live inside a panel with at least IP54 enclosure protection if washdown or condensation is present.
Integration notes
Main circuit connections use bars, accepting rigid 1 x 0.75-2.5 mm² conductors. Control circuit terminals require 0.6 N·m (5.3 in·lb) torque. The optional FieldBusPlug communication module can be added for network integration, but the base unit has no onboard fieldbus. Run signal and bypass signal relays are included; fault and overload signal relays are not — plan external indication if needed. The recommended overload relay is the MS495 series, set to 70-90 A range.
