25 A C-curve MCB for branch-circuit protection
The ABB 2CCS471001R0254 is a 1-pole miniature circuit breaker with a C-curve tripping characteristic, rated 25 A continuous current at 440 V insulation voltage. The C-curve means it trips at 5 to 10 times rated current — designed for circuits with moderate inrush, like motor starters, small transformers, or lighting banks where the startup surge would nuisance-trip a B-curve breaker. Rated short-circuit breaking capacity is 10 kA per Icn (EN 60898) and 15 kA per Icu (IEC 60947-2). The Icu figure tells you the breaker can safely interrupt a 15 kA fault once and still carry rated current afterward — the Icn rating is the service breaking capacity for repeated operation. For a 25 A branch circuit in a 400 V panel, 10 kA Icn covers most commercial and light industrial installations where the prospective fault current at the panelboard stays under that threshold.
DIN-rail fit and panel integration
Mounts on standard 35 mm DIN rail per EN 60715 — snaps on without tools and clips into place with the integral latch. Dimensions are 89 mm high, 69 mm wide, 94.5 mm deep, occupying one module width (18 mm per pole). The screw terminals accept up to 25 mm² conductor and are tunnel-type with captive screws, so the wire stays clamped under vibration. Overvoltage category III means it's rated for fixed installation downstream of the main distribution board — the kind of transient environment you see in a sub-panel feeding machinery or lighting circuits. IP20 enclosure rating is standard for dry indoor panels; no washdown or outdoor exposure without an additional enclosure.
