17 A motor current, 3-pole — what it means for your load
The A16-30-10-80 is an IEC contactor rated 17 A for AC-3 motor duty and 30 A general-purpose (resistive) load. That 17 A figure is the continuous motor current it can switch under starting and running conditions — match it to the full-load current of your three-phase motor, not the breaker rating upstream. The 240 V AC coil draws from the control transformer or PLC output. The contactor pulls in at 85–110 % of rated coil voltage; if your control bus sags below ~204 V during startup, the contactor may chatter or drop out. Built on the A16 frame with one N.O. auxiliary contact block integrated. That auxiliary can be wired as a feedback signal to the PLC or as a seal-in contact — no separate add-on block needed for basic interlocking.
Panel fit and termination
The A16 frame mounts on standard DIN rail. The 240 V AC coil terminals and the three power poles accept screw-clamp terminations typical for IEC contactors up to this frame size. Leave finger space above the arc chamber for cooling — the contactor dissipates heat through the housing, not a heatsink.
