What the 34 A rating means for your motor circuit
The A30-30-10-84: The 34 A figure is the motor full-load current (FLC) rating under IEC duty — this is the number that sizes the contactor for the load, not the 32 A general-purpose ampacity. For a three-phase motor at 460 V, 34 A FLC corresponds to roughly 25–30 HP, depending on the motor efficiency and service factor. The 32 A general-purpose rating applies to resistive or lightly inductive loads; for motor starting, use the 34 A FLC column. The 120 V AC coil matches a standard control transformer secondary or a 120 V relay output from a PLC. Coil inrush at pickup is roughly 7–10× the sealed VA, so the control transformer must be sized for the momentary draw of all contactors pulling in simultaneously.
Lifecycle reality — end-of-life, sourced through surplus channels
For a BOM that requires this exact form factor and auxiliary contact arrangement, the surplus channel is the only practical source. If the panel design allows a footprint change, a current-production Eaton contactor in the same current class (e.g., the XT series) would be the conventional replacement, but that requires a board or panel layout revision.
Panel integration — what fits alongside it
The A30 frame is a standard IEC contactor footprint that mounts on a DIN rail or with screws to a backplate. The 1 N.O. auxiliary contact block is built into the front — no add-on module needed for a single feedback signal to the PLC or a holding-circuit interlock. The 3-pole main contacts switch the three motor phases; the auxiliary switches independently at the same 600 V rating. In a panel with multiple contactors, the A30 frame's width and depth are consistent with other Eaton A-Line series sizes, so the DIN-rail pitch and the gland-plate layout stay uniform across the assembly. The 120 V AC coil draw is within the range of a standard 100 VA control transformer for a small panel with two or three contactors.
