Continuous and peak rating — what each figure governs
The ACS510-01-195A-4: The 13.5 kW continuous figure is the long-term shaft-load sizing point, while the 165 kW peak is the dynamic-braking envelope the SAFUR stack absorbs during decel. The continuous output current is 205 A, and the matched output choke FOCH-0260-70 is rated 289 A thermal, so the choke carries the drive current with thermal headroom rather than being the limiting element.
Braking stack — resistor, chopper, and selection resistor
Dynamic braking on this drive is built around the SAFUR200F500 braking resistor driven by the NBRA-657C chopper, with the selection resistor Rsel fixed at 2.7 ohm. That trio is the matched ABB stack for the R6 ACS510; substituting the chopper or the Rsel value away from the factory-matched pair changes the braking curve and the thermal cycling on the resistor. The peak 165 kW figure on this drive is what that stack is sized to dissipate during the rated braking duty.
Output choke and motor cable reach
The FOCH-0260-70 output choke on this drive allows motor cable runs up to 300 m with the choke installed, and up to 300 m without it on the same hardware revision. The 289 A thermal rating on the choke means cable length, not choke heating, is the gating constraint on long motor leads.
