What the 25 A rating means for motor switching
The AF09-30-10-13 is an ABB IEC contactor rated 25 A at 600 VAC, 3-pole, built on the AF09 frame. The 25 A figure is the continuous thermal current (Ith) at 40 °C ambient — the actual motor full-load current it can switch depends on the utilization category (AC-3 for squirrel-cage motors typically derates to about 9 A at 400 V). The 9-25 A range on the spec line covers the spread from light resistive loads up to the contactor's thermal limit. The coil accepts 100-250 V AC or DC, which simplifies panel wiring — one contactor covers both control voltage families without needing a separate coil variant. The integrated 1 N.O. auxiliary contact block provides a feedback signal for the PLC or a holding circuit.
