The ABB AF16-30-10-12 is an IEC contactor rated for 17 A in general-purpose duty, switching three poles at up to 600 VAC. The coil accepts 48 to 130 VAC or VDC — wide-range control that simplifies panel wiring when the control voltage isn't clean or you're bridging across a transformer tap. A single N.O. auxiliary contact block rides on the front, good for feedback or interlocking without adding a separate block.
What the ratings mean on-site
The 17 A rating is for general-purpose (AC-1) loads — resistive heaters, lighting banks, or transformer primaries. For motor duty (AC-3), the contactor's actual switching current will be lower; the 17 A figure tells you the thermal capacity of the main poles, not the motor-starting capability. The 600 VAC rating covers 480 V and 600 V distribution common in North American panels; the 48-130 V coil range means one part covers 48 V, 110 V, and 120 V control schemes without stocking separate coil voltages.
Snaps onto standard DIN rail. The AF16 frame is compact — three pole gaps plus the auxiliary block fit inside a 45 mm width envelope, leaving room alongside motor starters or overload relays in a typical control panel. Spring-cage terminals accept up to 4 mm² stranded; no ring terminals needed.
