Rated 30 A in IEC duty — what that means for motor loads
The AF16-30-10-13 is a 30 A, 3-pole IEC contactor from ABB's AF16 frame. The 30 A rating is the continuous thermal current (Ith) at 600 VAC — it governs the full-load current the main poles can carry in a motor circuit without exceeding the temperature rise limit of the contactor housing. Non-reversing type means this contactor switches a load in one direction only; for a reversing starter you need a mechanically interlocked pair of these units with a separate reversing contactor.
Coil voltage range — 100-250 V AC/DC simplifies panel supply
The coil accepts 100-250 V AC or DC, covering the common control voltages found in industrial panels — 110 VAC, 220 VAC, 125 VDC, 220 VDC — without needing a separate coil variant. This universal range reduces spare-part inventory for a panel builder stocking one contactor for multiple line voltages. For additional auxiliary contacts, the AF16 frame accepts snap-on side-mount blocks.
