What the 105 A rating means for fit
The 105 A rating is the contactor's maximum continuous current under AC-1 (resistive load) duty. For motor starting (AC-3), the usable current is lower — typically around 55-65 A for a standard 3-phase induction motor — so size the contactor to the motor's full-load amps, not the resistive rating. The AF80 frame accepts auxiliary contact blocks and overload relays from ABB's AF range, mounting directly on the contactor without additional wiring.
The AF80-40-00-13 snaps onto DIN rail or mounts with screws through its base plate. The 100-250 V coil draws minimal inrush current — the AF series uses an electronic coil interface that holds in at reduced power, so the control transformer can be sized smaller than with conventional AC contactors.
