Integrator's note on the AF96-30-11-11
The ABB AF96-30-11-11 is a 3-pole contactor rated for 115 A continuous current at 1000 V AC, making it suited for switching motor loads and resistive heating banks in 3-phase distribution panels. The coil accepts a wide-range supply of 24–60 VAC (50/60 Hz) or 20–60 VDC — no separate coil voltage variant needed, which simplifies stocking for panels that mix AC and DC control voltages. Surface-mount form factor; plan for DIN-rail adapter if the enclosure layout uses standard rail, as the base is drilled for screw fixing by default.
Coil voltage range and control circuit compatibility
The coil operates across 24–60 VAC and 20–60 VDC without a tap change. This means a single AF96-30-11-11 can be wired into a 24 VDC PLC output card or a 48 VAC control transformer without swapping coils — useful for retrofit work where the control voltage isn't standardized. The wide-range coil also reduces the risk of coil burn-out from voltage sags common on long cable runs in industrial plants.
