Integrator note — S201-C8
The ABB S201-C8 is a 1-pole miniature circuit breaker rated 8 A with Trip Curve C, 277 VAC line-to-neutral, and a 6 kA interrupting capacity per IEC/UL 1077. It snaps onto standard DIN rail and occupies one module width (17.5 mm). The C-curve characteristic means it trips between 5× and 10× rated current — suited for moderate inrush loads like small motor starters, contactor coils, or lighting ballasts where the magnetic trip needs to ride through a brief startup spike without nuisance opening.
Panel fit — what the ratings mean
The 6 kA interrupting rating at 277 VAC is the fault current this breaker can safely clear without welding contacts or rupturing the case — sized for typical commercial lighting panels and sub-distribution boards where available fault current stays under that threshold. The thermal-magnetic trip mechanism provides overload protection (thermal bimetal) and short-circuit protection (magnetic solenoid) in one package. DIN-rail mounting means it clips into a standard 35 mm rail; no panel cutout or screw fixing needed. One-pole design protects a single phase or line; for three-phase circuits, three units gang together via the factory busbar.
