What the ratings mean for fit
The ABB S202-Z6 is a 2-pole miniature circuit breaker rated 6 A with a Trip Curve Z characteristic, designed for DIN-rail mounting in distribution panels and control cabinets. The 6 A rating sets the continuous current it can carry without tripping under normal conditions. Trip Curve Z means the magnetic trip operates between 2 and 3 times the rated current — faster than Curve B or C — making it the right choice for protecting semiconductor circuits, control transformers, and other sensitive electronic loads where a standard MCB would allow too much fault energy through before clearing. Rated 277 VAC phase-to-neutral (480Y/277 V wye systems), it fits directly into North American 277/480 V lighting and control panels. The 6 kA interrupting rating at 277 VAC means it can safely clear a fault up to that level without welding contacts or rupturing the case — adequate for most secondary distribution panels where the available fault current stays under 6 kA.
Panel integration notes
Snaps onto standard 35 mm DIN rail per EN 60715. The 2-pole width occupies two modular spaces (36 mm), leaving room alongside other S200-series breakers for a clean, ganged appearance. Wire termination accepts up to 25 mm² conductor; torque to the nameplate value for reliable contact over the breaker's service life.
