What the ratings mean for fit
The ABB S202MUC-Z16 is a 2-pole miniature circuit breaker from the S200MUC series, rated 1.6 A with a Z trip curve. That 1.6 A rating is the continuous current it carries without tripping — undersized for a motor branch, but spot-on for protecting a control transformer secondary, a PLC power supply feed, or a 24 VDC sensor loop where you want tight overcurrent protection. The Z curve means it trips between 2x and 3x rated current (3.2 A to 4.8 A), which is faster than a C curve and avoids nuisance trips on moderate inrush from small inductive loads like contactor coils or relay banks. Mounts on standard DIN rail, so it clips into any panel enclosure.
Interrupting capacity and voltage range
Rated 277 VAC with a 6 kA interrupting capacity — that covers most single-phase control circuits fed from a 277/480 V panel. On the DC side it handles 500 VDC at 10 kA, which is useful for battery banks or DC bus protection in drives. The 500 VDC rating is higher than typical 60 V or 125 V DC breakers in this form factor, so it's a candidate for string-level solar combiner boxes or UPS output circuits. The 10 kA DC interrupt is the figure that matters for fault-clearing in those applications.
