32 A, 4-pole, Curve C — what it means on the panel
The S204-C32: The 4 poles let it break all phase conductors plus the neutral in a 480Y/277 VAC system simultaneously — one handle, one trip mechanism, four interrupted paths. It's the default curve for commercial panel schedules where you don't want nuisance trips from motor inrush but need fast clearing on a hard short.
10 kA interrupting rating — where it holds the line
That's the standard SCCR for most 277/480 V distribution boards downstream of a larger feeder breaker — it matches the typical available fault current at a lighting panel or sub-distribution board. At 32 A and 10 kA, this breaker sits in the sweet spot for 4-pole residential and light commercial sub-panels.
