What the ratings mean for your panel
The ABB S802S-K16 is a 16 A, 2-pole miniature circuit breaker with trip curve K, designed for DIN-rail mounting in distribution boards and control panels. The K curve means the magnetic trip operates at 8 to 12 times rated current — so it holds through motor inrush and transformer magnetizing peaks without nuisance tripping, then clears fast on a hard short. Rated 50 kA interrupting capacity at 400/690 VAC, 250 VDC, 50/60 Hz. That 50 kA SCCR means this breaker can safely interrupt fault currents up to that level without welding contacts or cascading failure upstream — critical for high-fault-capacity industrial panels where the service transformer is close.
Deployment context
Snaps onto standard 35 mm DIN rail in any enclosure. The 2-pole format fits single-phase or DC branch circuits where both poles need coordinated overcurrent protection — think control transformer primaries, DC power supplies, or motor control feeder branches.
