Omron E2E-X10Y1-M4 – M30 Shielded Inductive Proximity Sensor
The Omron E2E-X10Y1-M4 is an M30 threaded shielded inductive proximity sensor from the E2E series, delivering a 10 mm sensing distance on ferrous metals. It operates on a 24-240 V DC supply via two wires, with a normally open output. The M12 connector mates with standard cordsets for quick panel installation. Per the datasheet, the switching load capacity is 300 mA, but note the output circuit continuous current limit of 100 mA – derate if driving multiple loads in parallel. The brass body with nickel-plated finish and IP67 rating stands up to washdown and cutting oil exposure, with an operating temperature range of -40°F to 185°F. The shielded sensing face allows flush mounting in metal without derating the 10 mm range.
Mounting and Electrical Integration
M30 threaded body with shielded face permits flush mounting in metal panels without range reduction. The M12 connector (direct connector installation type) accepts standard 4-pin cordsets; only two wires are used for power and output. Observe polarity per the wiring diagram – the indicator light shows output state. The 2-wire DC sensor drops a small voltage when off; verify that the PLC input or relay coil can reliably see the off-state voltage across the sensor's minimum current of 5 mA. Load current should stay between 5 mA and 100 mA continuous (300 mA peak switching capacity).
