The Omron E2E-X12B218 2M is a current-production M18 shielded proximity sensor from the E2E NEXT series, rated IP69K for high-pressure washdown environments and delivering a 12 mm sensing range in a short-body format (55.3 mm overall length). Output is PNP normally-closed (NC) – a wiring preference for safety-monitored inputs that expect a closed circuit on power-up – on a 3-wire DC supply (10 to 30 VDC). The nickel-plated brass housing and PBT sensing face handle the torque of a standard M18 mounting and resist washdown chemistry up to IP67G (oil-resistant) and IP69K (steam/ chemical spray).
Mounting and integration notes
Shielded construction means the sensing face can be flush-mounted in metal without derating the 12 mm nominal range – useful for tight rack or bracket locations where the sensor head must not protrude. The 2 m PVC cable (E2E-X12B218 2M) provides a pre-wired connection; the 3-wire interface (brown/blue/black) is standard for most PLC digital input cards. Short-body design with 33 mm threaded length allows the sensor to be sunk into a 55.3 mm deep mount – saves panel volume compared to a long-body variant in the same M18 diameter.
