Sensor overview
The E2E-X16MC3L18 2M is an M18, long-body inductive proximity sensor from Omron's E2E NEXT line. Unshielded construction gives a 16 mm sensing distance, and the output is a 3-wire DC NPN, with both NO and NC contacts available on separate pins. The 2 m PVC cable is factory-attached. Rated IP67, IP67G, and IP69K, meaning it withstands immersion, oil-coolant environments, and high-pressure hot-water washdown cycles — relevant for food, pharmaceutical, and machine-tool coolant applications.
Ratings and compliance
Nickel-plated brass housing and PBT sensing face resist chemical exposure. Supply voltage is 10 to 30 VDC.
Mounting and integration
M18 threaded barrel with 50 mm threaded length; overall body is 77.3 mm. Unshielded mounting allows flush or non-flush installation — the 16 mm range is achievable even when the face protrudes beyond a metal mounting surface. Using a shielded variant would reduce the sensing range approximately by half. The cable is PVC, 2 m long, suitable for standard drag-chain applications within the rated temperature range. For functional safety chains, verify that the NPN output and wiring meet your SIL requirements; a separate assessment is recommended.
