What this sensor brings to a panel
The E2E-X3D28-TR 5M: This Omron E2E NEXT series inductive proximity sensor is a 2-wire DC, normally-closed output unit with a shielded M8 body and a 3 mm sensing range. It carries three ingress protection ratings — IP67, IP67G, and IP69K — which means it can be installed in washdown zones where hot water and chemical cleaners are applied at high pressure. The 5 m PVC robot cable is designed for continuous flex, so it suits moving machine arms or cable carriers.
Mounting and wiring notes
The M8 shielded body allows flush mounting in metal surfaces — no need for a non-ferrous standoff. The 2-wire DC configuration simplifies wiring: power and signal share the same pair, so you save a conductor compared to 3-wire sensors. The nickel-plated brass housing and PBT sensing face resist corrosion from caustic washdown agents, which is the common failure mode in food and beverage plants.
