An M18 shielded inductive prox built for the worst washdown zones
The E2E-X5C218 2M is a shielded M18 cylindrical proximity sensor from Omron's E2E NEXT series. It provides a 5 mm sensing distance and switches a 200 mA load through an NPN normally closed output over a 10-30V DC supply. The prewired 2 m cable brings power and signal out, and the brass nickel-plated body handles physical abuse in tight mounting spots. What sets this sensor apart for washdown environments is its triple IP rating: IP67, IP67G (oil-resistant), and IP69K. The IP69K rating means it survives high-pressure, high-temperature washdowns common in food, beverage, and pharmaceutical lines — the kind of cleaning that knocks out lesser sensors. Combined with oil resistance and washdown-resistant construction, it takes caustic CIP cycles without blinking. Inside, the Prox3 Hybrid circuitry with Thermal Distance Control 2 keeps the sensing distance stable across the -40°F to 185°F range. That matters when a fermenter goes from ambient to hot CIP and back — you don't want false triggers or missed targets during the transition.
Sourcing and lifecycle: current production, no obsolescence worry
Compliance documentation includes CE, CSA C22.2, and UL 60947-5-2 certifications. If your quality team needs declarations or the product-specific UL file, we can pull those on request when you place the RFQ.
