The Omron E2E-X5MC112 2M is a cylindrical M12 unshielded inductive proximity sensor from the E2E NEXT generation. Sensing distance is 5 mm (unshielded), output is NPN normally-open, rated for 10–30 VDC and 200 mA load. The prewired 2 m cable with bare wire ends simplifies field installation.
What the ratings mean for fit
IP69K and IP67G cover high-pressure washdown and oil-resistant environments – the sensor survives in a packaging line that gets steamed and sprayed with cutting oil. The IP67G suffix means it passed a grease-resistance test, not just water ingress. Unshielded construction gives a 5 mm range but requires a non-flush mounting: the active face needs to be clear of any metal behind it. If your mounting bracket is steel, you'll need a shielded version (typically 3 mm range) to avoid false triggers. NPN output sinks current to ground – common on older Japanese-origin PLCs like Omron CJ/CS or Mitsubishi FX. If your controller needs a sourcing (PNP) input, this won't work without a converter module.
Lifecycle and sourcing
The sensor carries CE, CSA, and UL 60947-5-2 marks – the UL listing is to the 4th and 14th editions.
Notable design features
The E2E NEXT series includes Omron's Prox3 hybrid circuitry with Thermal Distance Control 2 – stabilizes the sensing distance over temperature drift and line noise. The sensor also has early error detection (EZ-NO) and E-Jig compatibility for quick parameter setup during installation. Brass body with nickel plating, clamping nuts and toothed washer included in the box. The LED indicator sits on the rear face for visible status from any angle.
