The Omron E2E-X7D1-M1G-T is an M18 shielded inductive proximity sensor with a 7 mm sensing distance on ferrous metal. Output is 2-wire DC, NO, meaning it closes when a target enters the field. Shielded construction allows flush mounting in metal — no derating needed for the mounting surface. Supply is 12-24 VDC, and the M12 4-pin connector mates with standard field cordsets.
What the ratings mean on the sensor
7 mm range on a shielded M18 body is the standard sweet spot — enough to detect a bolt head or bracket edge without the sensor sticking way out. 2-wire DC simplifies the cable count (no separate load wire) but watch the leakage current and voltage drop if you're driving a low-impedance PLC input; most modern digital inputs handle it fine. The NO contact is normally open, so it switches on target presence.
Mounting options include an 18 mm through-hole bracket or a standard M18x1 threaded hole. Nickel-plated brass body holds up to wash-down and mild chemicals. Overall length is 53 mm, threaded portion 38 mm, so the sensor sits flush with the nut — no overhang to catch on moving parts.
