Safety Coprocessor for the M580 Rack
The BMEP58CPROS3 is the dedicated safety coprocessor module in the Modicon M580 family, handling safety logic up to SIL 3 PL=e without sharing processing resources with the main CPU. It draws 295 mA at 24 VDC from the rack backplane and communicates over the internal backplane. Conformal coating and an environmental rating covering Class I Division 2, ISA S71.04 gas/dust, salt, and mold resistance make it suitable for harsh and hazardous locations. Status LEDs indicate RUN (green), ERR (red), DL (green), SRUN (green), and SMOD (green). MTBF is computed at 946,000 hours. Operating temperature range -13 to 140 °F (-25 to 60 °C), storage -40 to 185 °F (-40 to 85 °C). Vibration resistance 3 gn, shock 15 gn.
Installs into any M580 rack slot; power and data travel across the backplane. IP20 enclosure. Conformal coating protects against condensation and corrosive gases. No external connections required. For altitudes above 2000 m, derating applies up to 5000 m. Humidity range 5 to 95 % non-condensing at 131 °F (55 °C).
