The BMXAMO0802: Eight high-level current outputs cover 0...20 mA and 4...20 mA at 16-bit resolution, with a maximum conversion value reaching 0...21 mA on the 0...20 mA range and 4...20 mA on the live-zero range. Output load is rated ≤350 Ω on the 4...20 mA range, which sets the practical field-cable and actuator envelope.
Loop performance and diagnostics
The module reports open circuits on the 4...20 mA range and short circuits on the 0...20 mA range, and falls back to a configurable predefined output on rack comms loss. The front face carries a green RUN LED, a green channel-diagnostic LED per channel, a red ERR LED and a red I/O LED for at-a-glance status. Isolation is 1400 V DC between channels and ground and between channels and bus, with no channel-to-channel isolation — a configuration that suits a common-return actuator bundle but not loops that need galvanic separation between channels. Power consumption sits at 3.6 W typical and 3.9 W maximum from the 24 V DC rail, with 0.35 W typical and 0.48 W maximum from 3.3 V DC — useful for the rack power budget the integrator sizes before adding further analog modules.
Environment, standards, and the rack envelope
Operating temperature is 0...60 °C with storage from -40...85 °C; the module runs at altitudes up to 2000 m and derates from 2000 m to 5000 m. Mechanical ratings are 30 gn shock and 3 gn vibration, with 5...95 % relative humidity at 55 °C non-condensing. The IP20 housing and standard protective treatment match the rest of the X80 rack. Compliance is declared to IEC 61131-2 and IEC 61010-2-201, with UL 61010-2-201 and CSA C22.2 No 61010-2-201 for North American panels, and the 2014/35/EU low-voltage and 2014/30/EU EMC directives for the European market. Reliability is stated at 1,500,000 hours MTBF.
The 4-channel sibling BMXAMO0410 carries the same Modicon X80 form factor but adds ±10 V voltage outputs alongside 0...20 mA and 4...20 mA, with channel-to-channel isolation at 750 V DC and a faster ≤1 ms conversion time. The BMXAMO0802 trades that voltage range and per-channel isolation for double the channel count, holding to current-only outputs at ≤4 ms conversion. For panels specified around BMXAMO0410, the BMXAMO0802 will physically drop into the same rack slot on the same 20-way connector, but the I/O map and field wiring must be reworked: voltage actuators on the four-channel module are not supported here, and channels share a common return.
