What lands in the rack
The Schneider Electric BMXEIA0100 is an AS-Interface master module in the Modicon X80 family, addressed to the rack over a single male SUB-D, 3-pin connector on the front face. Module format is Standard, drawing 160 mA at 3.3 V DC from the backplane — count it against the rack power budget the same way you would any other X80 drop. It carries the M4 master profile and addresses S7.3, S7.A.7, S7.A.A, S7.A.8, S7.A.9, and S6.0.X slave profiles on the AS-i segment. The front face exposes the diagnostics the field tech needs without a laptop: RUN (green), ERR (red), A/B group (green), I/O fault (red), 32 channel diagnostics LEDs, ASI power (green), and fault (red).
Bus sizing and cycle time
Cycle time is 5 ms for 31 slaves and 10 ms for 62 slaves — the headline 5 ms figure is the small-segment case, and the bus doubles its scan period once you cross 31 devices. Up to 124 server devices fit on a standard-addressing segment for discrete or analog I/O; extended addressing lifts the discrete ceiling to 496 server devices, while analog stays at 124 in extended mode. Maximum cable distance between devices is 100 m on the trunk, 200 m with a line extension, 300 m with 2 repeaters, and 500 m with 2 repeaters placed with the master at the middle of the run.
