The Schneider Electric C080H35EFM is a ComPacT NS new generation moulded-case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated 800 A at 50 °C, three-pole, with a MicroLogic 5.0 E electronic trip unit. The 5.0 E provides LSI protection — long-time overload (L), short-time short-circuit (S), and instantaneous short-circuit (I) — plus integrated energy metering. The 70 kA Icu at 415 V AC (65 kA at 440 V, 50 kA at 525 V) means it interrupts fault currents up to that level without failing, sized for distribution panels where high fault current is expected. The electronic trip unit includes a 20-minute thermal memory, so it remembers prior heating after a trip and re-closes only when the conductor has cooled — critical for motor or feeder circuits where nuisance re-closure risks damage.
Deployment and mounting
Fixed-mount on a backplate, front-connected top and bottom. The 210 mm width and 327 mm height fit standard ComPacT NS switchboard cutouts; the 147 mm depth leaves clearance for rear cable entry. Connection pitch is 70 mm. IP40 enclosure protection (IK07 impact resistance) suits indoor panel installation — not washdown, but fine for dry electrical rooms and MCCs.
Durability and mechanical life
Mechanical durability is 10,000 cycles. Electrical durability depends on load: 2,000 cycles at 690 V at full rated current (In), 4,000 cycles at 690 V at In/2, 5,000 cycles at 440 V at In, and 6,000 cycles at 440 V at In/2. For a distribution breaker seeing infrequent switching, this is ample; for a frequent motor-switching role, the lower electrical endurance at full voltage is the limiting factor.
The utilisation category is B (selective — allows short-time delay for coordination with downstream breakers). Power losses are 15 W at rated current.
