The C160S3WM is a Schneider Electric ComPacT NS new generation basic frame — a 3-pole, manually operated switch disconnector rated for 1600 A continuous in AC-23A duty across 220 to 690 V AC. It's a drawout (withdrawable) unit built to IEC 60947-3, so you can rack it out for maintenance without pulling cables. Rated impulse withstand voltage is 8 kV (Uimp), and it's certified for isolation use — the contact position indicator and visible-break compliance (via the drawout position) give you a positive disconnect confirmation.
Ratings that matter for the panel
Short-time withstand (Icw) is 25 kA for 0.5 s, with a making capacity (Icm) of 52 kA at 690 V — that's the fault-closing rating, important for coordination studies when this sits downstream of a larger breaker. Mechanical durability is 10,000 cycles; electrical durability is 2,000 cycles at 440 V — enough for daily switching in a distribution role, but if you're cycling it multiple times a shift, consider a contactor-based solution.
The drawout chassis measures 327 mm wide by 210 mm high by 147 mm deep. Front connections top and bottom, with a 70 mm pole pitch — standard for switchboard busbar risers. IP40 enclosure protection keeps out tools and fingers; IK07 impact resistance handles a routine panel knock. Storage temperature range is -50 to 85 °C, operating is -25 to 70 °C — fine for an unheated electrical room.
