800 A MCCB for solar distribution, LSI electronic trip
The Schneider Electric SOL80F3E800 is a 3-pole EasyPact Solar molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated 800 A at 40 °C, with a performance level of F 36 kA interrupting capacity at 800 V AC. The electronic trip unit (ETU) provides LSI protection: L for overload (long-time), S for short-circuit with time delay (short-time), and I for instantaneous short-circuit. This selectivity allows downstream breakers to clear a fault before the main trips, keeping the rest of the panel online. Thermal memory is built into the trip unit, so the breaker tracks prior heating and shortens the trip time on repeated overloads — useful for solar strings where cloud-edge transients can stack.
Rated operational voltage (Ue) is 800 V AC 50/60 Hz, and rated insulation voltage (Ui) is 1250 V AC — both per EN/IEC 60947-2. That 1250 V insulation rating gives headroom for the higher system voltages common in utility-scale solar plants (up to 1000 V AC nominal). Power dissipation per pole is 60 W, so a three-pole unit dissipates 180 W total. That heat must be factored into the enclosure cooling — especially in a backplate-mounted, IP20 enclosure where natural convection is limited.
Connection pitch is 40 mm, which matches standard busbar spacing for 3-pole MCCBs in North American and European panel layouts. Mounting position is horizontal or vertical — no derating required for orientation. The toggle handle stays accessible regardless of mounting angle. Dimensions: 250 mm height, 180 mm width, 105 mm depth. The IP20 finger-safe front cover protects against accidental contact with live terminals during maintenance.
