The Schneider VW3A4603 is a passive filter designed for Altivar variable-speed drives, purpose-built to reduce current harmonics on the line side. It carries a 19 A rated current at 400 V +/- 10 % three-phase, and is rated for one filter per drive across a specific set of Altivar 61 and 71 models — including the ATV61HD11N4, ATV61HU75N4, ATV71HD11N4, and ATV71HU75N4, among others. The THDI achieved depends on the drive model: 10 % for the 11 kW ATV61WD11N4 and 7.5 kW ATV61WU75N4 variants, and 16 % for the ATV61HD11N4, ATV61HU75N4, and the ATV71 equivalents.
The 19 A rated current sets the continuous line-side capacity — this filter is sized for drives in the 7.5 to 11 kW range on a 400 V supply. The THDI figures (10 % or 16 % depending on the drive) tell you the residual harmonic distortion after the filter; a 10 % THDI is typical for a low-distortion input stage, while 16 % is still within IEC 61000-3-12 limits for most industrial installations. Efficiency is rated at 98 %, so the thermal load on the panel is low — about 0.4 kW dissipated at full rated current. The IP20 enclosure means it is intended for clean, indoor panel mounting, not washdown or dusty environments. The terminal connection accepts up to 16 mm² conductors, which is adequate for the 19 A rating with some headroom.
Integration notes
Mount this filter in the drive's line input, not the motor output. It is a passive series filter — one per drive, as listed in the compatibility table. The operating temperature range is 5 to 40 °C without derating; above 40 °C up to 55 °C, derate current by 3 % per °C. At altitudes above 1000 m up to 4000 m, derate 5 % per 1000 m. Storage temperature spans -25 to 55 °C. Relative humidity should stay between 5 and 85 % without condensation. The power supply frequency is 50 Hz +/- 5 % — do not use on 60 Hz networks without verifying the filter's tuning.
