The Schneider Electric VW3A4607 is a passive filter designed to reduce current harmonics on the line side of Altivar variable-speed drives. It is rated for 72 A at 400 V ±10 %, three-phase, 50 Hz ±5 %, and delivers 98 % efficiency across the operating range. The filter mounts inside an IP20 enclosure — suitable for a clean, dry electrical panel, not for washdown or outdoor placement.
THDI Performance — It Depends on the Drive
The harmonic reduction this filter achieves varies by the specific Altivar model it is paired with. On the ATV61WD30N4 (30 kW / 40 hp) and ATV61WD37N4 (37 kW / 50 hp), the filter holds THDI to 10 %. On the ATV61HD30N4, ATV61HD37N4, ATV71HD30N4, ATV71HD37N4, ATV71WD30N4, and ATV71WD37N4, the same filter delivers 16 % THDI. One filter per drive — no sharing across multiple drives.
Power Factor and Current Handling
The filter maintains a cos φ of 0.99 at 100 % of line current, rising to 1.0 at 150 % of line current, and dropping to 0.85 at 75 % of line current. It can handle up to 1.5 times its nominal current without damage — useful for short-duration overloads during motor acceleration. The terminal block accepts conductors up to 50 mm².
Environmental Limits for Installation Planning
The filter operates without derating between 5 °C and 40 °C ambient. Above 40 °C up to 55 °C, derate current by 3 % per °C. Storage range is -25 °C to 55 °C. Relative humidity must stay between 5 % and 85 % non-condensing. Above 1000 m altitude, derate current 5 % per additional 1000 m. Insulation is Class F.
