Filter for ATV610 — THDI and Efficiency
The Schneider Electric VW3A46103A is a passive filter designed for the ATV610 variable speed drive. It is specified for a single filter per drive when paired with a 7.5 kW / 10 hp motor, and it handles a rated output current of 17.5 A on a 380 to 480 V three-phase supply at 50 Hz. The key parameter here is the total harmonic distortion of the input current: this filter brings THDI down to 10 % for the ATV610 drive, which is the figure that matters for meeting IEEE 519 or utility-imposed harmonic limits on a line. The filter achieves 98 % efficiency, with 129 W of thermal losses that need to be dissipated inside the IP20 enclosure.
Termination and Mounting
Terminals are labelled, L2, L3 for the line side and ', L2', L3' for the drive side, accepting 0.5 to 6 mm² conductors. The D1, D2, D3 and D1', D2', D3' terminals are fixed at 1.5 mm², and the TS, TS' terminals take 0.5 to 4 mm². The filter is rated IP20 for enclosure mounting, so it lives inside the panel — no washdown rating, no outdoor exposure.
