The Schneider VW3A46140 is a passive filter designed to reduce current harmonics on Altivar variable-speed drives. It's rated for a 480 V three-phase supply at 60 Hz, with a rated input current of 10 A and output current of 10.4 A. The filter delivers 98 % efficiency and limits total harmonic current distortion (THDI) to 10 % on newer drive families like the ATV630, ATV650, ATV930, and ATV950 for 4 kW/5 hp and 5.5 kW/7.5 hp motor ratings, and to 16 % on older ATV61/71 series at the same motor sizes.
Mount one filter per drive — the evidence lists a 1:1 ratio for each compatible Altivar model. The filter is a passive, line-side device; it connects via terminals accepting 0.5 to 10 mm² on the main circuit and 2.5 mm² on the auxiliary A/B terminals. The enclosure carries an IP20 rating as standard, or IP55 when mounted inside an enclosure. Operating temperature range is 5 to 45 °C without derating; above that, derate 3 % per °C up to 60 °C. The power factor (cos phi) varies with load: 0.99 at 100 % of line current, 0.85 at 75 %, and 1 at 150 % (overload). Overload capability is 1.5 times nominal current for 60 seconds. Insulation is Class F. Vibration resistance per IEC 60068-2-6: 2 mm peak-to-peak at 5 to 13.2 Hz, 0.7 gn at 13.2 to 150 Hz.
