The VW3A46144 is a passive harmonic filter from the Schneider Electric Altivar accessory line, designed to reduce current harmonics on three-phase 480 V, 60 Hz variable-speed drives. It's a line-side filter — one per drive — sized for 18.5 kW / 25 hp motors across the ATV61, ATV71, ATV630, ATV650, ATV930, and ATV950 families. The filter's job is to bring the total harmonic current distortion (THDI) down to 10 % on the newer ATV630/930/950 platforms, and to 16 % on the ATV61/71 generation, which keeps the installation compliant with IEC 61000-3-12 and G5/4 engineering recommendations.
Rated input current is 31 A, output 32 A — the filter is sized for the drive's nominal line draw, not the motor full-load amps. It can handle 1.5× nominal for 60 seconds, which covers the drive's inrush during a start or a brief overload event. Power factor correction is built in: cos φ stays at 0.99 at full load, 0.85 at 75 % load, and unity (1.0) at 150 % of line current. Efficiency is 98 %, so thermal losses are 233 W — plan for that heat inside the enclosure. The filter is IP20 as standard; an IP55 variant exists for enclosure mounting, but this order code is the IP20 base unit.
The filter connects via A/B terminals (2.5 mm²) and X1-1...X2-3 terminals (1.5 to 25 mm²). Operating temperature range is 5 to 45 °C without derating; above that, derate 3 % per °C up to 60 °C. Storage is -25 to 55 °C in original packaging, -25 to 65 °C during transport. Altitude derating kicks in above 1000 m — 5 % per additional 1000 m. Relative humidity 5 to 85 % non-condensing. Vibration resistance per IEC 60068-2-6: 2 mm peak-to-peak at 5–13.2 Hz, 0.7 gn at 13.2–150 Hz. Insulation is Class F.
