The filter's job is to bring the total harmonic current distortion (THDI) down to 10 % on the newer ATV630/930/950 platforms, and to 16 % on the ATV61/71 generation, which keeps the installation compliant with IEC 61000-3-12 and G5/4 engineering recommendations.

Rated input current is 31 A, output 32 A — the filter is sized for the drive's nominal line draw, not the motor full-load amps. It can handle 1.5× nominal for 60 seconds, which covers the drive's inrush during a start or a brief overload event.
