It's a line-side filter, not a dV/dt or sine-wave output filter — its job is to bring the drive's current THDI down to 10 % across the motor power range, from 132 kW/200 hp up to 315 kW/500 hp, depending on the drive model (ATV61H, ATV61Q, ATV71H, ATV71Q, ATV630, ATV930). The 240 A output current is the continuous rating — the filter can handle 1.5 times nominal for 60 seconds, which covers the typical inrush and acceleration transient of a VFD-fed motor. The 231 A input side is slightly lower, so the filter imposes a small bottleneck; the drive's input current must stay at or below that figure to avoid saturating the filter core. Quantity per drive varies: for a 132 kW/200 hp motor on any listed drive family, one filter per drive is sufficient. For the 280 kW/450 hp and 315 kW/500 hp motors, two filters per drive are required. The filter is IP20 as a stand-alone component, but when mounted inside an enclosure it achieves IP55 — suitable for washdown or dusty environments. Operating temperature range is 5...45 °C without derating; above that, derate the current by 3 % per °C up to 60 °C. At altitude above 1,000 m, derate 5 % per 1,000 m. Power factor correction is inherent: the filter presents a cos phi of 1 at 150 % of line current, 0.85 at 75 % current, and 0.99 at 100 % current — so it actively improves the displacement power factor across the load range, not just at full load.
Electrical connection uses two terminal types: a small-signal terminal (X1-1...X2-3) accepting 2.5 mm², and main power terminals (A, B) accepting 25...300 mm². Vibration resistance per IEC 60068-2-6: 2 mm peak-to-peak at 5...13.2 Hz, and 0.7 gn at 13.2...150 Hz. That's standard for industrial panel mounting on a rigid backplate; avoid mounting directly on a machine frame that sees higher vibration levels.
