Harmonic filter for Altivar drives
The VW3A46154 is a passive harmonic filter rated 302 A output, 480 V +/- 10%, 60 Hz, designed to reduce current harmonics from variable-speed drives. It achieves a THDI of 10% when paired with Altivar ATV61H, ATV71H, ATV61Q, ATV71Q drives at 355 kW, and with ATV630 or ATV930 wall-mount drives at 160 kW/250 hp. Efficiency is 98%, with thermal losses of 925 W at full load. The filter meets IEC 61000-3-2, IEC 61000-2-4, IEC 61000-2-2, IEC 61000-3-4, IEC 61000-3-12, and G5/4 engineering recommendation, ensuring compliance with harmonic emission limits in industrial networks.
Ratings and performance
Rated current is 291 A input / 302 A output. The filter can handle 1.5x nominal current for 60 seconds, providing overload margin for motor starting or transient loads. Power factor (cos phi) varies with load: 1 at 150% line current, 0.99 at 100%, and 0.85 at 75%. Operating temperature range is 5 to 45 °C without derating; above 45 °C up to 60 °C, derate current 3% per °C. Altitude derating applies above 1000 m: 5% per 1000 m up to 4000 m. Storage temperature is -25 to 55 °C in original packaging, -25 to 65 °C during transport. The filter is IP20 rated; IP55 when enclosure-mounted. Vibration resistance per IEC 60068-2-6: 2 mm peak-to-peak at 5–13.2 Hz, 0.7 gn at 13.2–150 Hz. Insulation class F.
Quantity per drive varies: two filters for ATV61H/ATV71H/ATV61Q/ATV71Q at 355 kW; one filter for ATV630/ATV930 wall-mount at 160 kW/250 hp. Electrical connection uses A/B terminals (2.5 mm²) and X1-1...X2-3 terminals (25–300 mm²). Mount the filter close to the drive input; long pigtails reduce harmonic attenuation. The 60 Hz +/- 2% supply frequency is fixed — not suitable for 50 Hz networks without derating verification.
