The Schneider Electric VW3A46156 is a passive filter designed to reduce current harmonics on Altivar ATV61 and ATV71 variable speed drives rated up to 500 kW / 700 hp. It handles a continuous output current of 395 A at a supply voltage of 480 V ±10 %, 60 Hz, three-phase. Two of these filters are required per drive for the target motor ratings. THDI sits at 10 % for the listed drive-and-motor combinations, which keeps harmonic injection within IEC 61000-3-12 and G5/4 engineering recommendation limits. Efficiency is 98 %, with thermal losses of 1175 W — that heat has to go somewhere, so factor it into your enclosure ventilation. IP20 base rating; IP55 when enclosure-mounted. The filter uses A/B terminals with 2.5 mm² capacity for the control connections and X1-1…X2-3 terminals accepting 25…300 mm² for the power wiring. Mounting altitude derating kicks in above 1000 m — 5 % current reduction per 1000 m up to 4000 m. Operating temperature range is 5…45 °C without derating, 45…60 °C with a 3 % per °C derating.
