The VW3A46157 is a passive filter from Schneider Electric's Altivar family, designed to reduce current harmonics on the line side of variable-speed drives. It carries a 450 A output rating (436 A input) at 480 V +/- 10 %, 60 Hz, and delivers a THDI of 10 % for Altivar drive models ATV61H, ATV71H, ATV61Q, ATV71Q, ATV630, and ATV930, for motor ratings from 220 kW/350 hp up to 560 kW/800 hp.
The 450 A output rating sets the continuous current the filter can handle on the drive output side; the 436 A input rating is the line-side limit. At 480 V +/- 10 % and 60 Hz, this filter is sized for North American 480 V three-phase systems. The 10 % THDI figure means the filter brings total harmonic current distortion down to 10 % at rated load — meeting the G5/4 engineering recommendation and IEC 61000-3-12 / IEC 61000-3-4 limits for harmonic emission. Efficiency runs at 98 %, so only 2 % of the throughput power is lost as heat — the 1524 W thermal loss number tells you the heat that must be removed from the enclosure.
The filter is IP20 rated (IP55 with enclosure mounting), so it needs to live inside a panel or a dedicated enclosure. Electrical connection uses A/B terminals for control wiring (2.5 mm²) and X1-1...X2-3 terminals for power (25...300 mm²). Vibration resistance per IEC 60068-2-6: 2 mm peak-to-peak at 5...13.2 Hz, 0.7 gn at 13.2...150 Hz. Operating temperature range is 5...45 °C without derating; above that up to 60 °C derate 3 % per °C. Above 1000 m altitude, derate 5 % per 1000 m. Storage in original packaging: -25...55 °C; transport: -25...65 °C.
