What this filter does on the line
The Schneider Electric VW3A4656 is a passive harmonic filter sized for Altivar ATV61 and ATV71 drives. It knocks line current THDI down to 10 % at full load — that's the figure for a 132 kW/200 hp drive (ATV61HC13N4 or ATV71HC13N4) and also for a 250 kW/400 hp drive (ATV61HC25N4 or ATV71HC25N4), though the larger frame needs two filters per drive. Rated 217 A continuous at 480 V +/- 10 %, 60 Hz +/- 5 %. Efficiency runs 98 %, so the heat you have to vent is minimal.
IP20 enclosure — panel-mount only, no washdown rating. Bare-wire connection accepts up to 16.5 mm diameter. Operating ambient is 5...40 °C without derating; above that, derate 3 % per °C up to 55 °C. Above 1000 m altitude, derate 5 % per additional 1000 m. Storage range -25...55 °C, humidity 5...85 % non-condensing.
Power factor and current handling
Cos phi lands at 1 when drawing 150 % of line current, 0.85 at 75 % load, and 0.99 at full rated current. Maximum current is 1.5 x nominal — so 325.5 A peak before the filter saturates. Class F insulation throughout.
