The SICK DT50-P1123 is a Dx50-series optical distance sensor that uses a red laser to measure from 200 mm out to 10 m with a 20 ms response time. That 10 m range covers long conveyor or crane-approach zones where you need a single sensor, not a daisy chain. The PNP output (30 VDC supply max, 10 VDC min) mates directly to standard PLC inputs without a level shifter.
The 36 mm width and 63 mm height (58 mm length) fit the Dx50 housing footprint common on SICK brackets — if you're swapping a failed unit on an existing mount, the bolt pattern matches. The M12 5-pin male connector is standard for industrial sensors, so replacement cables are off-the-shelf. Operating temperature spans -30 °C to 140 °C, which covers both freezer-line and oven-adjacent installations. The 20 ms response is adequate for material handling at moderate line speeds — think box detection at 1–2 m/s — but not for high-speed pick-and-place where you'd need sub-millisecond response.
